i wish i had the balls to do this.
so, it’s no secret we love Golden Girls. JB sent this to us today, and it made my f-in’ day. not only is this tattoo totally inspired, it’s super well-done. whoever did that deserves some kind of award. and whoever got that tattooed on them needs to get involved in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict because there’s no way she (he?) could possibly fail. that tattoo will bring world peace. for real.

last month, an MTV UK released the results of a poll asking people what they thought was the “Best Album Ever”… since 1981 (the year MTV was launched.) to no one’s surprise, No. 1 was Michael Jackson’s Thriller. but when they saw that No. 2 is Craig David’s Born to Do It, plenty of people were like, “what the fuck?” i’m sure the next question was “who is Craig David?”

Bea Arthur at the 1986 Emmys (when she WON!)
sad news today: Bea Arthur died this morning in L.A. she had been battling cancer (a family spokesman declined to get more specific.) she was 86.
my favorite of her work was Golden Girls, but she’d done plenty of work before then. she was on Broadway for many years before landing a part on All in the Family as Maude, Edith Bunker’s liberal cousin.
she got her own spinoff, Maude, in 1972, and it thrust her into the forefront as one of the faces of the feminist movement. although it was a sitcom, the comedy dealt with the stresses and constraints that many women lived with–her husband became an alcoholic and she got an abortion on the show (which didn’t go over well with many viewers.)
in more recent years, Bea appeared on Curb Your Enthusiasm and Malcolm in the Middle. she was still fucking hilarious.
but i will always love her for being Dorothy. viva las Golden Girls!

Golden Girls vs. SATC
First of all, I’m pretty sure the Golden Girls in their hey-dey would have beat the tar out of the SATC girls. How come chicks these days are always trying to figure out in their girl groups who is who compared to the Samanthas, Carries, Charlottes, and Mirandas? Well, from now on, I’m only having that conversation with my female friends in regards to Dorothys, Blanches, Roses, and Sophias. Which Golden Girl would I be? What about .m.??
